Pumpkin and Mum's 1, Oil on Canvas 10" x 8"

Due to a forecast for less than comfortable weather, the Oregon group opted not to schedule a painting event. Good thing. The temperature was not severe, but the wind was. Gusts up to 50 mph makes plein air more like “plane” air painting.

Rather than fight the winds outside, I decided to set up a still life in my studio. New challenge. I couldn’t find the clamp-on light which I could have attached to my easel. I worked from a dimly lit spot, painted and frequently took the painting off of my easel, moved it to another spot to judge the progress and determine my next steps. Good exercise, I suppose.
