Plein Air – November 16
November 22, 2010Nursing a foot injury so no running today. Hope it heals soon. I have to get ready for next season’s races.
I am hoping to get a few small paintings completed before my December display at The Next Picture Show. I have the frames available, might as well put them to use. Colder weather and smaller paintings seem to go together. Although the weather report called for a partly cloudy day, the temperatures were expected to get into the 40’s. I ventured out to Blackhawk to see what the day would bring. Clawed felt that a cloudy day was best suited for sleep.
I came upon a couple good possibilities but settled on a view of the river bank. It was warm enough that I did not need the insulated bibs. Hands kept warm enough too. Tough painting today. The sun moved in and out of clouds. The constant changes in the quality of light made for difficult painting. Background values in particular created the biggest challenge.
