Plein Air – Oregon Park

August 30 #1, Oil on Canvas Panel 10" x 8"

The Eagle’s Nest group decided to paint out at a park along the Rock River. Following a 6 mile run, clean-up and breakfast, I packed my painting gear, lunch and Clawed into the car and took off to Oregon.

Unfortunately it was overcast/cloudy. I selected this spot situated along an observation deck and worked on a 10″ x 8″ canvas panel. I spent a little more time on this than I should have, but it was fun.

I applied some artistic license on this one. The Route 64 bridge would have cut through this image. I didn’t like the design that the bridge would have demanded, it served no purpose to my painting, so I removed it. Washington is throwing a lot of money at the rebuilding of the nations infrastructure, but I doubt that they would forward any of that stimulus money to have me put the bridge back into this scene. Just as well.
