Back at Midway Village. The weather this morning is not promising. Overcast. I want to get a couple paintings done for practice and resource. The next couple days are predicted to be rainy and the Edge of the Rock Plein Air competition, a ten day affair, begins tomorrow.

The first scene to jump out at me includes an 1850 era barn. The sky is a real challenge. About halfway through the painting, the sun started to pop out from the clouds. Full sun on my painting and palette  made it very interesting to finish my work.

After finishing the first painting, I decided to tackle another. Had to find shade first and then determine a scene to paint. Found a nice, quiet, secluded spot which focused on the light and shadows on the back sides of a couple of the Victorian structures, a scene which few visitors would recognize.
