Milk Bottle and Blossoms

Milk Bottle and Blossoms – Oil on Canvas – 10″ x 8″

Last winter, we had a Saturday morning with nothing pressing. My spring classes were scheduled to start the next Saturday. This was a last open Saturday for a few months. We decided to visit an antiques mall near the state line. We had never been there before, but my son had written an article about the business for The Northwest Quarterly, so we decided to give a look.

Neat, clean, organized – not exactly what I was expecting. Nostalgia hit. We were constantly finding items which reminded us of such items owned by relatives or neighbors from our childhood.

Then the artists eye started to kick in. I began to see items for the interesting still life element which could be useful. I came across a couple old milk bottles and a small Mason jar of marbles and made a purchase. While the jar with marbles is yet to be utilized, I placed some artificial flowers in the small milk bottle and created this painting.

Soon after posting the images on Facebook (Tom Linden Fine Art), I was contacted by one of the galleries which represent my work. It has recently been delivered to the gallery (Rivers End Gallery) and should find a new home soon, I hope.
