September Apples – Oil on Linen Panel – 12″ x 9″

I host a class called Open Studio. It is a combination of painters in oils and acrylics. Every week I offer an option of a still life set up (live) or a landscape (photo resource). The first week of class, following a brief discussion concerning the format of the class, I begin a painting to help the students understand how to start their paintings.

Most times, the start is good enough to help my students feel comfortable and eager to start their own paintings. Usually, by the time I get home, I wipe off  the start and save the canvas for another day. This day however, the start was good enough to keep me working it through most the class. It needed a couple minor tweaks back at the studio. Good enough that one of the galleries has requested a consignment to sell the work.
