Tracks Thru Bauman – Oil on Linen Panel – 11″ x 14″

Although I have painted from this spot before, I had not tackled this design. In the past, I focused further t the right, the bend of the river. Moved quickly to capture this scene in two hours. Did a few minor tweaks back in the studio.

Good timing. Within a few days of several things happened. First, within a couple days of posting this painting, one of the galleries contacted me. They wanted this work for display and sale. Second, we were hit by several heavy rain storms. This park and the spot where I was standing when painting, were under water for more than a week. The tree which gave me shade while I painted this work was washed away by the floods.

Insisted on going out to paint despite cloudy conditions. I prefer a clear or partly cloudy days which give me strong shadows to aid my composition. Settled on this view of the river. I was able to set up along the recreation path. Not too bad except for all of the goose droppings. The soft lighting softens everything. I had to impose atmosphere to aid the feeling of separation between the land masses.
