Feeling a bit guilty about spending so much time painting on Thursday, I resolved to devote Friday to whatever Helen wanted to do.

We ventured to The Old Post Office for breakfast on the porch which overlooks the Eagle Harbor in Ephraim. While eating, we noticed a Golden Retriever meander onto Rt 42. Thank heavens it has a 25mph speed limit in this area. A couple cars did have to pause to allow the dog to cross the road. I put down my fork and went across the road to help this dog before he got hurt. I was able to get hold of the dogs collar. The collar contained his owners address and telephone number. The collar also let me know that his name is Enzo. Another person on the scene used their cell phone and contacted the owner. Moments later owner and dog were reunited. One good deed for the day.

We proceeded to The Peninsula School of Art where we were able to view a number of works by the featured artists. I helped one of the artists with hanging one of his works (good deed number 2). We ventured back to Clark Park and visited with a couple artists who were preparing for Saturdays Dockside Paint Out. We made a number of other stops in Fish Creek and Egg Harbor to pick up souvenirs and gifts for family and friends. Toured the area around Rowleys Bay and Baileys Harbor. By mid-afternoon, Helen was out of ideas. She needed a break before dinner.

We stopped at Anclam Park in Baileys Harbor. While Helen caught some rays and read a book, I painted. I finished and it was time for an early dinner.

After dinner, we made our way to the marina at Egg Harbor to take in the sunset. Could not contain myself. A scene along the shoreline caught my eye. I painted while Helen read and then took some reference photos of scenes around the marina.

My wife has spent the past 2-1/2 years completing graduate courses. Classes are finally over. It was time to rest and relax. We left our sons in charge of the house and headed up to Door County for a few days. Conveniently for me, the trip coincided with The Door County Plein Air Festival.

We entered DC Wednesday afternoon. After a stop at The Artists Guild (an art supply store) and Woodwalk Gallery, we checked into our hotel. After dinner up in Gills Rock, we made our way to Waterfront Park in Sister Bay to witness the Sunset Paint Out. Forty artists spread throughout the park, painting designs inspired by the sunset over the bay. Got the opportunity to visit with a few of the artists.

Following breakfast Thursday, we made our way down to Clark Park in Fish Creek. It was a day of relaxation. I painted, Helen caught a few rays and read a book. I completed two small paintings in the morning. After lunch, I completed one more painting while Helen visited with a couple onlookers and later, took a short nap.

By mid-afternoon, I put the gear away. We made our way to the main drag, visited a few shops and then dinner. We then traveled down to Egg Harbor. Artists were painting sunset scenes at Woodwalk Gallery, Plum Creek Pottery and the marina. We visited all three locations.

One long day. For resting and relaxing, we were pretty tired.

Greetings from Woodwalk Gallery

My sister and nephew visiting the display of my oil paintings on exhibit at Woodwalk Gallery, Egg Harbor, Wisconsin

A couple weeks ago, I received an e-mail from my brother-in-law. My sister and her family were vacationing in Door County Wisconsin and used their i-phone to let me know that they followed through on my invitation to visit the display of my artwork at Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor.

If you travel to Door County Wisconsin this summer, please take time to stop in at Woodwalk Gallery, 6746 County Road G, Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. If you can spare the time, drop an e-mail to me to let me know that you were there. Photos of you at the display are optional…but welcomed.
